Gardening, Hearne Elementary
Home Sweet Home
The students at Hearne getting ready to build a garden by selecting a site that provides for the plants’ needs. The first site they evaluated was under the tree. They concluded that it wasn’t the right spot for our vegetable garden because vegetables need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. Site location B was not the best place to start our garden due to the lack of water source. Our last site location was the perfect place because it met all the plants’ needs. A vegetable garden should: be easily to get to, receive at least 6 hours of sunlight each day, be near a source of water, have well-drained soil, and be close where tools are stored.
