Code Your World!
H2Grow 4-H Club held its first family game night on October 24, 2018! We used the Code Your World kit to participate in #4HNYSD (4-H National youth science day). A few students came out and participated in the games. We did three coding games: animate a name, artificial intelligence (AI), and code your dance. All of the games had two parts to them. Animate a name is an activity the students did online using Scratch. They made animations perform different tasks by giving it specific codes, like computer scientist give computers. AI is an activity the students played each other in RPS (rock, paper, scissors). The twist on this traditional game is the AI made the choices for the students. Students first rolled dice and flipped a coin then looked on a chart and see what their outcome was. If a student rolled a 1 or 4, their choice was rock. If the student flipped the coin and it landed on heads, their choice was rock as well. They played AI versus human then AI versus AI. The last game played was code your dance. The students had to come up with an algorithm for the chicken dance then put it into code using flashcards.
