BSIC Indoor Gardening!
At Brazos School of Inquiry and Creativity, the Growing U students seeded a garden but it was all inside. They first started with an activity called “garden in a glove.” Each participant used a clear plastic food serving glove, five cotton balls, and a variety of seeds. The group selected five different seeds, put them in a moistened cotton ball and placed in the finger tip of the glove. Next the fingers of the gloves were labeled with the type of seed the cotton ball contained. The gloves were sealed and taped to a window that allowed sunlight a good amount of sunlight. After the seeds began to sprout the kids transplanted them into cups. Growing U participants also constructed a grow tent. The grow tent will help the young gardeners create “optimal growing environments indoors.”
